Character Lab has a "one-roof" policy, as we believe our best collaborations happen in one space together. Therefore, all positions are full-time in our Philadelphia office.
Director of Research
The Director of Research will work primarily on the Character Lab Research Network (CLRN) where they will liaise between top tier scientists and a fast growing network of school partners to facilitate a variety of research projects. Reporting to our Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Sean Talamas, as well as collaborating with other Directors, this individual will come into a role where they can combine their passion for research and education with their skills in project management and communication.
We are looking for an individual who has hands-on experience with research and understands its demands. Juggling multiple projects at once, the right candidate embraces time management, can spot areas to improve process inefficiencies, and will thrive within our small and dynamic team.
Director of School Partnerships
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Sean Talamas, the Director of School Partnerships will support the development and maintenance of the Character Lab Research Network’s school partnerships. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-oriented, innovative professional to have a tremendous impact by ensuring Character Lab develops and maintains school partnerships to advance the science and practice of character development.
The Director of School Partnerships will lead the School Partnership team, develop and manage strategy for recruiting new districts, oversee budget and operations for school partnerships, and provide input on strategy for Character Lab Research Network. They will oversee all processes for research activities in schools (e.g., direct-to-student research activities, student and teacher interviews, teacher surveys, classroom studies) and work to improve efficiency across our organization. As a director, they will also provide input on the overall culture and strategic vision for the organization.
School Partnerships Manager
Reporting to the Deputy Director of School Partnerships (Diana Gould), the School Partnerships Manager will work closely with Character Lab’s network of school and district partners while developing and coordinating new systems for conducting research activities in schools. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-oriented, innovative professional to have a tremendous impact by ensuring Character Lab develops and maintains school partnerships to advance the science and practice of character development.
The School Partnerships Manager will manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously. They will present at conferences and plan events for school partners, recruit and onboard new schools, create systems for new types of activities in schools (e.g., student and teacher interviews, teacher surveys, classroom studies), and work to address inefficiency across our work.
We are looking for an individual who has education experience, either as an educator or dealing directly with them, and understands the complexities of working with schools. Juggling multiple projects at once, the right candidate embraces time management, effective communication, and will thrive within our small and dynamic team.
